Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
This represents the player's maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after March of that year.
Success also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent saved four early chances in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
