Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
